Technician I, Facilities Engineering Technical Support

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Technician I to provide technical support for facilities engineering. You will work on the design, construction, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and related systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle technical tasks for design, planning, construction, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Assist in budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimating for facility modifications.
• Coordinate building space allocation, layout, communication services, and expansion while meeting health and safety standards.
• Support contract and contractor management and collaborate with insurance providers on risk‑reduction projects such as fire prevention.
• Apply scientific and engineering principles to solve operational problems.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing components on facilities equipment.
• Conduct basic repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections under supervision.
• Learn to maintain DI water systems, compressed air systems, HVAC systems, and CE environmental controls.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent reading, writing, and communication skills in English.
• Ability to work third‑shift hours (Sunday‑Thursday, 11 PM – 7 AM EST) with occasional flexibility.
• On‑site work location; no travel required.
• Sponsorship and relocation not available.
• Preferred: technical certification, associate degree, or coursework in Engineering, Facilities Management, Maintenance Technology, HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, or related fields; experience in regulated facility or equipment maintenance.
