Solar PV Energy Yield Lead (Utility‑Scale)

About the role

The Solar PV / Energy Yield Lead will head detailed solar PV design and energy‑yield assessments for utility‑scale projects in Eritrea, guiding the team from concept through commissioning and performance verification.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed solar PV engineering, design coordination and energy‑yield assessment from design development through commissioning.
• Prepare solar‑resource assessments, develop bankable energy‑yield models (PVsyst or equivalent) and quantify losses such as irradiation, temperature, shading and degradation.
• Optimize PV plant sizing, DC/AC ratios, array layouts and equipment selection, and support FAT/SAT, commissioning and performance testing.
• Review and validate contractor designs, technical specifications, equipment datasheets and supplier guarantees.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to client, utility and operations personnel on PV design assumptions and performance monitoring.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Renewable or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of solar PV engineering experience, including at least 7 years on utility‑scale projects and three projects of 10 MWp or larger.
• Proven experience in solar‑resource assessment, PVsyst (or equivalent) modelling, degradation analysis and performance‑ratio testing.
• Hands‑on experience with procurement support, vendor review, FAT/SAT, commissioning and plant‑performance verification.

• Loss modelling (soiling, shading, temperature, degradation, etc.) and uncertainty analysis.
• FAT/SAT procedures, electroluminescence testing, I‑V curve testing and thermography.
