Operations & Maintenance Specialist / Trainer

About the role

The Operations & Maintenance Specialist / Trainer will lead capacity‑building and knowledge‑transfer programmes for the Eritrean Electricity Corporation, delivering training, competency assessments and O&M procedures for solar PV, battery energy storage and mini‑grid facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver training programmes, competency frameworks and assessments for operators, technicians and engineers.
• Develop and maintain O&M procedures, maintenance schedules, asset registers and warranty registers for PV, BESS, substations and related control systems.
• Support selection and implementation of an asset‑management or CMMS system, including data structures and reporting.
• Coordinate supplier and contractor training, ensuring alignment with project systems and competency requirements.
• Prepare and manage spare‑parts, consumables and special‑tools philosophies, including critical spares and reorder levels.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering, Operations Management or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in utility or mini‑grid operations, technical training or maintenance management.
• At least 5 years of experience with solar PV, battery energy storage or comparable distributed‑energy systems.
• Proven experience delivering O&M programmes on projects of 5 MW or larger.
• Experience in East Africa or similar remote, internationally financed energy programmes is an advantage.
